Materials: pallets, boxes, plant

This work clearly shows my fascination for composition as opposed to illustration. We see a sculpture of stacked pallets, boxes and a plant with a window in the middle, questioning the imaginary boundary of ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ and deconstructing the concepts of ‘public’ and ‘private’ space. Personally, I think placing a stack of pallets on a public sidewalk is a very bold move. The apparently careless and disorderly arrangement of all the elements suggests a timelessness in the ensemble, denying the audience both climax and redemption. As a child I already created sculptures like this. I think it was a sign of raw talent, but it was never really understood by the housekeeper.
