Anticipation is a very important theme in my work. SORRY SEEMS TO BE THE HARDEST WORD is a depiction of anticipation a la Dalí. Two mailboxes with a thin layer of dust look like they are melting, suggesting a suspension of time. This work tells us about the lover hoping for an affirmation of mutual feelings. And of the bored little child hanging around expressing anger and disappointment. A minute can feel like an hour for the people that are waiting and hoping. This work is very special, because I submitted it to Le Centre Pompidou, a leading center for modern art in Paris, and I haven’t heard back from them. I think they haven’t found the words (and funds) to write a letter of acceptance and put it on display.
